Alan led a workshop discussing Keddem's experiences, with particular focus on organization, volunteers, quality, and leadership development. From the workshop description in JRF's Convention schedule:

This workshop will trace and discuss the experience of JRF congregation Keddem as a community-led congregation. We will focus on issues of self (how we each contribute, including in ways typically addressed by professional staff--rabbi or executive director); congregation (who does what? how to organize? burnout, "quality control," High Holy Days, etc.), and community (how the community viewed us as time progressed; how we worked with the community without professional staff) will be discussed.
